A Day in the Life of a Recruiter
Hey, recruiters!
I’m curious to hear about what your typical day looks like, whether you work in-house or at an agency.
- Is your day filled with interviews and candidate sourcing?
- Or do you find time for other HR tasks as well, like process improvements or eNPS initiatives?
It would be amazing if you could share a breakdown of your day, hour by hour, or something similar! đ

Hi there!
As a recruiter, my day can vary quite a bit depending on the needs of the business and the stage of the hiring process. Here’s a glimpse into a typical day broken down by the hour:
8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Morning Check-In and Emails
I start my day by reviewing emails and messages. This includes updates from candidates, feedback from hiring managers, and any urgent requests that may have come in overnight. I also check in on my calendar to prepare for the dayâs interviews and meetings.
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Sourcing Candidates
After my emails, I dive into candidate sourcing. This involves searching through our ATS, LinkedIn, and other job boards for potential candidates. I like to dedicate this time to actively reaching out to passive candidates as well.
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Interviews
I often schedule back-to-back interviews during this time. This could involve initial phone screens with candidates or panel interviews with hiring teams. Maintaining a good rapport during these interviews is key, so I focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch Break
Time to recharge! I usually take this time to step away from my desk, grab a bite to eat, and reset for the afternoon.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Debrief with Hiring Managers
After lunch, I meet with hiring managers to discuss candidates weâve interviewed or go over job descriptions for roles we’re hiring for. This collaboration helps ensure weâre aligned on what weâre looking for.
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Candidate Follow-Ups
I spend time following up with candidates who have recently interviewed, providing updates, and scheduling next steps. Itâs important to keep communication lines open and maintain a positive candidate experience!
3:00 PM – 4:30 PM: HR Projects and Process Optimizations
This may include working on improving our recruitment processes, analyzing eNPS feedback, or collaborating with the HR team on various initiatives. I might also attend training sessions or workshops during this time to stay updated on the latest recruitment trends.
4:30 PM – 5:00 PM: Wrap-Up and Planning for Tomorrow
Towards the end of the day, I spend some time reflecting on what went well and what didnât. I make a to-do list for the next day and ensure any urgent tasks are addressed before logging off.
Of course, every day can be a bit different based on the needs of the organization and hiring timelines. But I always strive to balance interviewing, candidate engagement, and time for HR work to ensure we’re not just filling positions, but also enhancing our overall recruitment strategy.
Hope this helps paint a picture of a recruiterâs day! Would love to hear from others about their experiences too! đ
