Hiring Processes: A Question
I recently had a positive experience with a hiring process. I completed one interview and was even referred to another position, where I participated in two more interviews— the final one being with the director. It went well, and I was informed by the recruiting team that I was a top candidate and would hear back soon.
However, I noticed that the same position I applied for has been reposted as new just last week. Now, I find myself with three applications for the same job title. Is this common? Does anyone know why a job I applied for would be listed again as a new opening? How should I interpret this from a recruiter’s perspective? Is this typical practice?

It’s not uncommon for companies to repost job openings, even if they have already interviewed candidates for them. This can happen for a variety of reasons:
Candidate Withdrawals: Sometimes candidates choose to withdraw their applications or accept offers elsewhere, prompting the company to re-advertise the position.
Internal Changes: There might be changes within the team or organization, such as budget adjustments or shifts in project direction, that lead to a need for a fresh recruitment cycle.
Broader Search: Companies may decide to expand their search to find the best fit, especially if they want to compare a wider range of candidates.
Delayed Decision Making: Interviews may have gone well, but if the hiring process slows down for any reason, the position might be reposted while they continue their search.
If I were a recruiter, I would view this situation as a chance to gather a broader pool of candidates. It’s also an opportunity to reassess the qualifications or characteristics the team is looking for in a candidate to ensure the best possible fit.
For you, it’s understandable to feel uncertain given the circumstances, but it’s essential to stay positive. You have already advanced through multiple stages of the process, which is a good sign. It may also be helpful to follow up again with recruiting for an update on your application status. Good luck!
