Title: Transitioning from Recruiter to BDM
Hi everyone,
I’d love to connect with UK-based Recruiters who have successfully transitioned into full-time Business Development Manager (BDM) roles, whether in recruitment or other fields.
I’m curious to hear about your journey. Was the shift a positive experience? Do you have any tips for someone considering making this move in the future?
Thanks for sharing!

Hello!
I’m glad to see this topic being discussed—it’s an exciting transition! I made the leap from recruitment to a full-time BDM role a couple of years ago and can share some insights.
Transitioning was definitely a worthwhile move for me. In recruitment, I honed my skills in client relationship management and developed a strong understanding of market dynamics. This experience translated well into my BDM role, where I now focus on building strategic partnerships and driving business growth.
One key piece of advice I’d offer is to leverage the skills you’ve gained in recruitment—especially in communication, negotiation, and understanding client needs. These are invaluable in a BDM position. Also, being proactive in learning about the industry you’re entering is crucial. It’s helpful to connect with mentors or peers who have made a similar transition.
Networking is essential too! Attend industry events and engage on platforms like LinkedIn to expand your connections in the BDM space.
Best of luck to anyone considering this move! It can be challenging but equally rewarding.
Cheers!
