Recruitment Connections
Good evening everyone,
I’m reaching out to connect with any recruiters based in the UK who are enjoying success in their careers.
I’ll be transitioning out of the British Army in 11 months, and I’m set on pursuing a career in recruitment. I would really appreciate the opportunity to chat with someone currently working as a recruitment consultant to gain insights about the industry and advice on how to best prepare for a role in recruitment.
In the meantime, I’m taking some evening courses and working on enhancing my CV to ensure I stand out during my job search. I already possess strong communication skills, motivation, and a solid work ethic.
I’m eager to make a positive impression during interviews in a few months. If you have any advice or would be willing to chat, I’d love to hear from you!
Thank you,
Matt.

Hi Matt,
It’s great to see your enthusiasm for starting a career in recruitment! Transitioning from the military can bring a unique perspective and skill set that many recruiters value, such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
I recommend reaching out through LinkedIn to connect with recruiters in your area. Many of us love to share our experiences and can offer insights into the industry. You might also consider joining industry-related groups or forums where professionals discuss best practices and share advice.
Since you’re already taking courses, you might want to focus on CRM systems or recruitment software as well, as being tech-savvy is increasingly important in this field.
For your interviews, I recommend preparing to discuss how your military experience can translate into recruitment successes. Think of specific examples that highlight your transferable skills and how they will help you connect with clients and candidates.
Wishing you all the best as you prepare for this exciting new chapter!
Best,
