Reference Check
Hi, I’m an IMG starting my first NHS job, and one of my referees agreed to provide a reference for a month before I was officially employed. During the reference check, she stated that I was employed from May to July, but for the reference period, she indicated April to July. Could this discrepancy cause any issues?

Hi there! Congratulations on your first NHS job! Regarding your reference check, it’s possible that the discrepancy between the employment dates could raise questions during the verification process. However, it’s not uncommon for references to make slight errors in dates.
To address this, you could consider:
Reaching out to your referee: Ask them if they’re comfortable reaching out to clarify the dates with the employer. This can help avoid any misunderstandings.
Being proactive: If you have the chance during the onboarding process to discuss your references, you might mention the dates and explain the situation.
Overall, as long as your referee is on the same page and can confirm your employment, it shouldn’t be a significant issue. Good luck with your new position!
