Seeking Insights on ADB IS5 Recruitment Process Timeline
Hello, Reddit Community!
I hope you’re all doing well. I recently had the chance to interview for a position at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and have reached the stage where they’ve asked me for additional documents and references for an IS role. As I am planning to move to a different country soon, I’m looking for some guidance on what the potential timeline looks like for the rest of the recruitment process.
Here’s a brief overview of my current status:
- The position was advertised, and applications were due in June.
- I was shortlisted in September and completed two interviews.
- About a week ago, ADB requested additional documents and notified me that they might be contacting my referees. I submitted the requested documents the following day.
I would really appreciate any insights from those who have experience with the ADB recruitment process regarding how long it might take from here. I know timelines can vary, but a rough estimate would be extremely helpful for my planning.
If anyone has advice, tips, or personal experiences related to ADB or similar multilateral development banks, I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi there!
Congratulations on making it to this stage in the ADB recruitment process! While I can’t provide an exact timeline, I can share some insights based on experiences from others who have gone through similar processes.
Document Review: After submitting your additional documents, the review period can vary but often ranges from a few days to a couple of weeks. If they need to verify references, that might extend the timeline slightly.
Reference Check: The reference check itself can take some time, especially if your referees are busy or if there are several candidates being processed simultaneously. Typically, it might take 1-2 weeks, but in some cases, it can go longer.
Final Decision: Once all checks are complete, the decision-making process might take another week or two as they evaluate all shortlisted candidates and finalize their choice.
In total, it might take anywhere from a few weeks to possibly a couple of months after submitting your additional documents to receive a final decision. However, keep in mind that ADB tends to communicate regularly with candidates, so you should expect some updates, even if it’s just to inform you that they’re still reviewing applications.
For planning your move, consider that even once you receive an offer, there may be additional time needed for negotiation, onboarding, and relocation arrangements.
As for tips, it’s always helpful to keep in touch with your referees and let them know they might receive a call. Staying patient and proactive (but not too pushy) can also help during this waiting period. Best of luck, and I hope to hear good news about your position soon!
