Why is IT recruitment going so wrong?
I’m increasingly noticing recruiters relying heavily on AI for candidate pre-screening. It’s baffling to think that experience alone determines someone’s ability to excel in their role.
When searching for a talented developer, the emphasis should be on their understanding of testing, syntax, clean code structure, and their willingness to learn. Am I the only one who finds the current state of recruitment to be quite perplexing?

While experience is important, qualities like problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a willingness to learn can be just as crucial in a dynamic field like IT.
Recruiting shouldn’t be about just ticking boxes based on past experiences; it’s also about recognizing the unique strengths and motivations of each candidate. A good developer with a solid understanding of fundamentals and a growth mindset can often outperform someone with years of experience but little passion or adaptability.
I think there’s a balance to be struck. AI can help streamline the initial screening process, but it shouldn’t replace the human touch. Personal assessments, interviews, and context-based evaluations can provide deeper insights into a candidate’s capabilities and fit for a team.
