Recruitment Salary in the UK
Hey everyone,
I’ve been in healthcare recruitment for about 10 months now, working primarily in temporary placements.
I’m excited to share that I was recently promoted to a senior position. Here’s a breakdown of my compensation:
- Base Salary: £30,000
- Quarterly Bonuses: The commission structure is as follows:
- 0% on the first £7,500
- 10% on billings up to £50,000
- 13.5% on billings up to £75,000
- 15% on billings over £75,000
(These percentages are incremental based on the specific billing thresholds.)
For this quarter, I’ve earned a bonus of approximately £5,700 from £60,000 in billings.
I’d love to hear your thoughts: Is this compensation considered good for a recruitment role, or is it more on the average or below-average side?
Thanks!

Congratulations on your promotion to senior! It sounds like you’ve structured a solid compensation package.
Your base salary of £30k, coupled with a quarterly bonus that brings your total earnings to around £65.7k (considering your bonus), is generally competitive for the healthcare recruitment sector, especially with only 10 months of experience.
In the UK, recruitment salaries can vary greatly depending on the niche, region, and size of the company. For someone in healthcare recruitment with a senior title, an OTE (On Target Earnings) of around £65k is quite respectable.
As a rough benchmark, many recruitment consultants in healthcare might see base salaries ranging from £25k to £40k, with OTEs reaching £60k to £100k depending on individual performance and commission structures. Your tiered commission structure also seems fair and can be beneficial as you continue to grow your billings.
Overall, it appears you’re in a good position, especially so early in your career. Keep up the good work, and continue to focus on developing your skills and performance—there’s a lot of potential for growth in this field!
