UK Recruitment – ATS Tools
Hi everyone! I’m trying to determine if the tools I’m using to optimize my CV for ATS are effective. I typically use Career Set to tailor my CV based on job descriptions. Does anyone know if this site is beneficial? If not, I would love to hear any alternative recommendations!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there! It’s great that you’re focusing on making your CV ATS-friendly, as many companies use Applicant Tracking Systems to screen applications. CareerSet can be a helpful tool in tailoring your CV to specific job descriptions by ensuring you include relevant keywords and phrases.
However, it’s also a good idea to supplement your strategy with a few best practices:
Keywords: Make sure to include keywords from the job description naturally in your CV. Look for skills, qualifications, and experience mentioned in the listing.
Simple Formatting: Use a clean, simple format without complex tables, graphics, or unusual fonts. Stick to standard section headings (like “Work Experience” and “Education”) to help the ATS easily parse your CV.
File Type: If possible, submit your CV as a .docx or PDF file, depending on the job posting’s instructions, since some ATS software may have difficulty with formatting in other file types.
Manual Reviews: In addition to using tools, it can be beneficial to have someone review your CV for clarity and relevance. Sometimes having a second pair of eyes helps catch things you might miss.
Tailored Applications: It can be helpful to start with a strong base CV and tailor it for each application based on the specific role, even if it takes a bit more time.
If you’re looking for other ATS-friendly tools, you might want to check out Jobscan or Resumake, which can also help analyze your CV against specific job postings.
Best of luck with your applications! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
