What’s everyone’s ultimate goal?
I’m considering making a change soon and could really use some inspiration for what to pursue after recruitment.
After spending 7 years in the field, with both ups and downs (I’m currently in a sales-driven role at an agency), I’m feeling a bit stagnant.

It’s great that you’re taking the time to reflect on your career and think about your next steps. After seven years in recruitment, it’s understandable to crave something new and fulfilling!
Many ex-recruiters have successfully transitioned into various fields, leveraging their skills in communication, relationship building, and sales. Here are some options to consider:
HR and Talent Management: Moving into an internal HR role can be a natural transition. You’ll still be working with people but in a slightly different capacity, focusing on employee development and organizational culture.
Sales or Business Development: If you enjoy the sales aspect of recruitment, many former recruiters excel in account management or business development roles in different industries.
Consulting: Your deep understanding of the recruitment process and talent acquisition can be valuable in consulting, helping organizations improve their hiring strategies.
Training and Development: If you have a knack for training others, you might enjoy developing training programs for new recruiters or sales teams, sharing your expertise and insights.
Start Your Own Business: If you’ve ever dreamed of being your own boss, now might be a good time to explore that. Whether it’s a recruitment agency or something entirely different, your experience gives you a solid foundation.
Project Management: Your organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks can translate well into project management, which can be both challenging and rewarding.
Writing or Content Creation: If you enjoy writing, consider creating content related to recruitment, career advice, or industry insights, which can open doors to speaking engagements or consulting opportunities.
Consider what aspects of your current role you enjoy and what you’re passionate about. Networking with former colleagues who have made similar transitions can also provide valuable insights and inspiration. Good luck as you navigate this exciting next chapter!
