Question About Applying Before Recruiter Interview
Hello everyone! I was recently contacted by a recruiter about a job that seems like an incredible fit for my career goals. I had an exploratory call scheduled for Wednesday, but it was postponed to Monday due to some technical issues on the recruiter’s side. In the meantime, I’ve found the job listing online and looked it over to prepare for the interview. Since this is my first experience with recruitment, I’m curious about the best approach: Should I go ahead and apply for the position now and mention it during our call if everything goes well? Or would it be better to wait and see if the recruiter prompts me to apply? Thanks for your advice!

It’s great to hear about your exciting opportunity! In this situation, it’s generally a good idea to wait until after your exploratory call to apply for the position. Here are a few reasons why:
Understanding the Role: The call will give you more insights into the position and the company culture, which can help you tailor your application and express your interest more effectively.
Recruiter’s Guidance: The recruiter may provide valuable information about the application process, timelines, or specifics about what the hiring team is looking for. They might even mention when it’s best to officially apply.
Demonstrating Interest: If the call goes well, you can express your enthusiasm and let the recruiter know you plan to apply, which shows initiative without jumping the gun.
If the conversation goes really well and you feel positive about the opportunity, you could even apply immediately afterward, citing your conversation in your application. Good luck with the interview!
