Curious about fee structures for full-desk recruiters!
Hello everyone! I’ve recently made the leap to work independently and I’m interested in knowing what rates others are charging for direct hires, temporary placements, and temp-to-hire situations as full-desk recruiters. Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

Congrats on going solo! Pricing can vary widely based on your industry, location, and level of expertise. Here’s a general breakdown to help you:
Direct Hire: Most full-desk recruiters charge a percentage of the candidate’s first-year salary. This typically ranges from 15% to 25%, with higher percentages for hard-to-fill roles or specialized industries.
Temporary Placements: For temp roles, it’s common to charge a markup on the candidate’s hourly wage, often between 25% to 100%. So, if a candidate’s pay rate is $20/hour, you might charge the client anywhere from $25 to $40/hour based on your markup.
Temp-to-Hire: This can be similar to direct hire fees, but many recruiters will charge a lower fee since there’s the potential for the candidate to become a permanent employee. Fees often range from 10% to 20% of the candidate’s first-year salary, depending on the agreement.
Make sure to consider your overhead costs and market demand when setting your rates, and don’t hesitate to adjust them as you gain more clients and experience. Good luck!
