Seeking a New Recruitment Opportunity
I’ve been with my current agency for a couple of years, which has been my first recruitment role. I genuinely appreciate the experience and enjoy my time there, but I feel my personal performance hasn’t quite met expectations. I’m looking to proactively prepare for the possibility of a change.
As this is my first time searching for a new recruitment position, I would love to hear any advice on the best platforms or resources to find suitable roles. Are there any particular recruitment-to-recruitment firms you would recommend?
Additionally, I’m interested in transitioning into internal recruitment, so any insights on breaking into that area would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It’s great to hear that you’re being proactive about your career! Here are some tips to help you in your search for a new recruitment role:
Job Boards and Websites: Websites like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and Reed can be valuable for finding recruitment roles. Tailor your search with keywords like “recruiter,” “talent acquisition,” and “internal recruitment.”
Recruitment Agencies (Rec2Rec): It’s beneficial to connect with recruitment agencies that specialize in recruiting for recruitment roles. Some well-known Rec2Rec agencies are:
Harrison Sands: They focus on the recruitment market and can help find the right fit for you.
Networking: Reach out to your professional network, including colleagues from your current agency, former coworkers, or industry contacts. Attend industry events, webinars, or local meetups to expand your connections.
LinkedIn: Update your LinkedIn profile to reflect your skills and experiences, and actively engage with content related to recruitment. Join groups focused on recruitment and talent acquisition to stay updated on opportunities and best practices.
Internal Recruitment: To transition into internal recruitment, highlight any experiences where you worked closely with HR or internal stakeholders. Consider any projects you have managed or supported that involved talent acquisition aspects. You might also look for roles that allow you to gain relevant experience, such as HR coordinator positions, to bridge the gap.
Professional Development: Consider obtaining certifications related to recruitment, like the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or a certification in talent acquisition. This can enhance your CV and show your commitment to growing in the field.
Job Fairs and Conferences: Keep an eye out for recruitment industry conferences and job fairs. They’re great opportunities to meet potential employers and learn about new openings.
Preparation: If you’re concerned about your performance at your current agency, focus on identifying areas for growth. Set specific goals to improve your skills. This will not only help you in your current role but also make you a stronger candidate for future positions.
Remember, it’s completely normal to seek new opportunities for growth and to pivot in your career. Good luck!
