Reference Check Concern
Hi everyone, I’m an IMG starting my first NHS job. My referee agreed to provide a reference for one month before my employment began. However, during the reference check, she listed my employment as being from May to July, but specified the reference period as April to July. Do you think this discrepancy will cause any issues?

It’s understandable to be concerned about discrepancies in reference checks. However, it may not necessarily cause an issue, especially since your referee has agreed to provide a reference and has confirmed your employment period.
Here are a few suggestions to address the situation:
Clarify with Your Referee: Reach out to your referee and explain the discrepancy. It’s possible they might have made a simple mistake, and they can clarify or correct it if needed.
Transparency with the Employer: If you’re still concerned, consider mentioning this to the NHS employer during the hiring process. Being upfront about the situation can help mitigate any potential issues.
Documentation: If you have any documentation (e.g., offer letters, contracts) that confirms your employment dates, keep it handy in case it’s needed.
In most cases, as long as your referee is honest and your employment history aligns with what you’ve provided, it should work out fine. Good luck with your first NHS job!
