Kicking Off a Career in Recruitment
Hello recruitment experts!
I’m considering a transition into recruitment, having previously worked in executive search. I understand that the two fields have some significant differences.
Could you please share your top three pieces of advice, insights, or cautionary tips for someone starting in this area?
(I’m aware it involves higher volume and that candidates may not be as reliable as in exec search.)
Thanks in advance!

Absolutely, transitioning from executive search to recruitment can be quite a shift! Here are my top three pieces of advice as you make this move:
Build Strong Relationships: While executive search tends to focus on fewer, higher-level candidates, recruitment is all about volume and speed. However, don’t underestimate the power of building relationships with candidates and clients alike. Taking the time to understand your candidates’ motivations and aspirations can lead to better placements and a stronger reputation.
Embrace Technology: Familiarize yourself with recruitment tools and platforms that can streamline processes. Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), digital onboarding, and candidate engagement tools can help manage the volume and improve efficiency. Additionally, leveraging social media for sourcing candidates can provide a broader reach.
Stay Resilient and Adaptable: Recruitment can be fast-paced and, at times, unpredictable. Be prepared for challenges such as candidates dropping out of the process or clients changing their requirements. Developing resilience and adaptability will help you navigate these ups and downs and maintain a positive outlook.
Good luck on your recruitment journey, and remember that your experience in executive search gives you a unique perspective that can be invaluable!
