Tech vs. Non-Tech Recruitment
As a Non-Tech Recruiting Manager with a focus on Sales hiring, I’ve spent 12 years in this niche. While I love what I do, it’s hard not to notice that Tech recruiting offers higher salaries and more opportunities. At this stage in my career, I wonder if I have enough time left to develop my expertise in Tech, especially compared to my established knowledge in Sales hiring. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic!

It’s great to hear about your extensive experience in non-tech recruitment, particularly in sales hiring. You’re right that tech recruiting often comes with lucrative opportunities and a rapidly evolving landscape, which can seem daunting.
However, your specialized expertise in sales is incredibly valuable. Sales roles are crucial for driving revenue and growth in any organization, and many companies are willing to invest in top talent for those positions. Additionally, your established network and understanding of the sales domain can often lead to unique opportunities.
If you’re considering expanding into tech recruitment, perhaps a blended approach could work. You don’t have to become a tech expert overnight; instead, you could focus on hiring for sales roles within tech companies. This allows you to leverage your strengths and gradually build your understanding of the tech side of the business.
Ultimately, the best path depends on your career goals and interests. There’s significant demand for talent in both areas, so choosing a niche that aligns with your strengths and passions will likely lead to a more fulfilling career in the long run. What are your thoughts on potentially blending the two areas?
