Strange job offer situation
Hey everyone, I hope this is the right place to share my experience. So, I interviewed for a job I didn’t actually apply for (I accidentally walked into the wrong office, haha) and somehow ended up receiving a verbal offer. My start date is supposed to be tomorrow, but I haven’t received an offer letter or any information about the I-9 form yet (edit: even though I was told I’d get an email on the ‘night of’ the offer). Should I be worried? I know it’s the weekend, and it’s probably just sitting on someone’s desk, but I’m feeling a bit anxious about job security at this time of year. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

It’s definitely an unusual situation, but I wouldn’t panic just yet. It sounds like there may have been a mix-up, especially if you literally walked into the wrong place! Since it’s the weekend, it’s possible that the HR team hasn’t had a chance to finalize the paperwork yet.
Here are a few steps you might consider taking:
Follow Up: If you haven’t already, send a polite email to the person who gave you the verbal offer, reiterating your excitement and asking about the status of the offer letter and I-9 forms.
Prepare for Monday: If you don’t hear back before your start date, be prepared for a potential delay in starting. It’s good to be flexible in these situations.
Stay Positive: Job offers can sometimes take a little longer than expected. As long as they haven’t rescinded the offer and you’ve got the verbal confirmation, you’re likely still in a good position.
Plan for Contingencies: While it’s understandable to feel anxious, it might be wise to keep your options open in case things don’t pan out as expected.
Remember, communication is key. Good luck, and hopefully, you’ll have everything sorted out soon!
