Create a Comfortable Environment: Choose a quiet location where you won’t be interrupted. This helps both you and the candidate focus on the conversation.
Set the Tone: Start the call with a friendly greeting and a brief introduction about yourself and the company. This helps put the candidate at ease.
Use a Structured Format: Develop a consistent structure for your interviews. This might include sections for introductions, questions, and time for the candidate to ask questions.
Active Listening: Since you can’t rely on non-verbal cues, focus on the candidate’s tone and inflection to gauge enthusiasm and clarity. Take notes to help you remember important points.
Ask Open-Ended Questions: Encourage candidates to elaborate on their answers by using open-ended questions. This can lead to more insightful discussions and give you better insights into their personalities and experiences.
