Recruiting in Japan & Singapore
Hello everyone!
I’m looking to fill two positions, one in Japan and another in Singapore. As I’m based in NYC, navigating the time zones can be a bit challenging. Has anyone had experience recruiting in the APAC region? I’d love to hear any tips or advice you might have before I begin sending out interview requests.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Hi there!
Recruiting in the APAC region can definitely come with its unique challenges, especially when it comes to time zone differences. Here are a few tips that might help you navigate the process more smoothly:
Understand Cultural Nuances: Each country has its own culture and communication styles. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the local customs in both Japan and Singapore, as this will help you build rapport with candidates.
Time Zone Awareness: Try to schedule interviews at convenient times for candidates. You might need to get creative with your own schedule to accommodate them. Tools like World Time Buddy can help you coordinate across time zones.
Leverage Local Talent: If possible, tap into local recruitment agencies or networks. They can provide valuable insights and possibly help with the logistical aspects of recruiting in their respective countries.
Tailor Your Approach: Job seekers in Japan may appreciate a more formal and respectful recruitment process, while candidates in Singapore might be more accustomed to a straightforward and concise communication style. Adapting your approach can yield better results.
Be Patient and Flexible: Response times may vary based on local holidays and weekends, especially in Japan. Being flexible and patient will go a long way in keeping candidates engaged.
Utilize Technology: Video interviews are widely accepted and can help bridge the distance. Just ensure your technology is reliable, and test it in advance to avoid any hiccups during interviews.
Good luck with your recruitment efforts! Feel free to reach out if you need any more specific advice.
