Seeking Relocation Opportunities as a Recruiter
Hello everyone,
I’m currently a recruiter in Japan, working end-to-end for a large international recruitment firm. Lately, I’ve been considering a move to Europe, but the internal transfer options at my company aren’t aligning—Germany requires fluency in German, and the Amsterdam office has left things somewhat open-ended.
I am fluent in Japanese (business level) and have native proficiency in both English and Chinese. I’m reaching out to see if any of your organizations are looking for new talent that aligns with my skill set.
I have a proven track record in recruitment, and to be honest, I’m quite motivated by financial incentives, which drives my ambition.
I’m particularly interested in EMEA recruitment since most of my clients are based there, and I would love the chance to continue working in that region.
If anyone has navigated a similar situation or has successfully relocated to Europe, I would greatly appreciate your insights and advice!
Thank you!

Hi there!
It sounds like you’re at an exciting crossroads in your career. Relocating to Europe as a recruiter can be a fantastic opportunity, especially with your diverse language skills and international experience. Here are a few suggestions that might help you in your search:
Leverage Your Network: Since you already have experience working with EMEA-based clients, reach out to your contacts in those regions. They might know of open positions or be able to provide referrals.
Specialized Job Boards: Check out recruitment-focused job boards that cater to the European market. Websites like LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and specialized recruitment agencies can be great resources.
Consider Remote Roles: With the rise of remote work, many companies are open to hiring recruiters regardless of location. This could be a stepping stone to a relocation.
Language Skills: Your multilingual abilities are a huge asset. Highlight this in your applications, especially if you’re looking into roles in regions where these languages are spoken.
Consult Companies Directly: If you’re interested in specific companies, don’t hesitate to reach out to their HR departments directly to inquire about opportunities, especially since some companies are open to hiring talent with unique backgrounds.
Seek Advice from Relocated Recruiters: It could be really helpful to connect with recruiters who’ve successfully made the move. They can provide firsthand insights, potential pitfalls, and recommendations for companies or regions that are welcoming to international talent.
Explore Internships or Short-Term Contracts: If you’re open to it, consider short-term positions in EMEA. This could get your foot in the door while you look for a more permanent role.
Remember to keep your resume and LinkedIn profile updated, showcasing your international expertise and business acumen. Best of luck with your relocation plans, and feel free to reach out if you want to connect!
Cheers!
