Am I Being Ghosted?
I’ve applied for a position at a major organization in the West, specifically at one of their aged care facilities. I’ve gone through several interviews, and each time, they seemed quite enthusiastic about hiring me. The challenging part is my visa situation; right now, my options are limited until I receive my skills assessment or a new visa. I was advised to seek legal advice outside their organization, which I did, and I informed them about the outcome of that conversation. Since then, I’ve suddenly stopped receiving any responses from them. For context, they have always been very responsive in the past. Just this week, I reached out for an update, but they didn’t provide a clear answer regarding my application status. Is it fair to conclude that I’ve been completely ghosted and effectively rejected? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you’re in a frustrating situation, and it’s understandable to feel unsure about what’s happening with your application. Since they’ve been responsive throughout the process and seemed interested in hiring you, it’s possible that the delay is related to your visa situation rather than a lack of interest in you as a candidate. However, the sudden drop in communication is concerning.
Here are a few steps you could consider:
Follow Up: If you haven’t already, consider reaching out one more time. A polite follow-up email expressing your continued interest and inquiring about any updates regarding your application might prompt a response.
Clarify Your Position: If they do respond, it may be worth reiterating your understanding of their interest in your skills while addressing the visa concerns directly.
Seek Multiple Opportunities: While it’s clear you value this opportunity, it might be beneficial to continue exploring other job prospects in the meantime. This way, you won’t feel as reliant on a single application.
Stay Positive: Sometimes, external factors can lead to unexpected delays in the hiring process. It’s possible they’re navigating the internal complexities of hiring someone with specific visa requirements.
Ultimately, while you might feel ghosted, it’s important to keep communication open and not make any conclusions until you receive a clear response. Good luck, and whatever happens, know that your skills are valuable!
